In My Steps

Finding Answers in a Question filled World

The World is Square

Natasha Murray-Norman is a native of Forrest City, Arkansas. A small town located 45 miles from Memphis, Tennessee and about 90 miles east of Little Rock, Arkansas.  In understanding my posts, you will see the growing pains of a young adult who is finding her way.  Having been formed to be the “perfect Southern lady” the ideas and myths are no longer dominant in my life, but they are very much a part of my formation.

Because of the traditional teachings that have been imprinted on my life, I have concluded that the world is square. The world is square because everyone expects everyone to be the same, think the same, and achieve the same goal.  The world does not respond to the prophetic voice(s) of those who have given us warnings about the state and condition of our world. To see the world in its fullness and roundness is to see it full and ever changing.  To see the world as being round is to see that all ideas are welcomed and embraced.  To see the world round is to not be bound by any type of restrictions or restraints that may hinder people from growing and being who they are meant to be.

I am a woman on a mission to spread the good news of Jesus to anyone who will listen.  Unlike most blogs of Christian writers, you may find scripture and you may not. You will find articles that address a wide range of topics in which I deal with on a personal and spiritual level. I don’t propose to be right, but hopefully I will be able to help spark some sort of conversation with others.

This small town girl is now living in Kansas attending seminary and serving as a campus minister.

To know me is to know that this is my song, this is who I am at this stage of my life.

I Know Who Holds Tomorrow

word and music by Ira Stanphill

    I don’t know about tomorrow,
    I just live from day to day.
    I don’t borrow from it’s sunshine,
    For it’s skies may turn to gray.
    I don’t worry o’er the future,
    For I know what Jesus said,
    And today I’ll walk beside Him,
    For He knows what is ahead.
    Ev’ry step is getting brighter,
    As the golden stairs I climb;
    Ev’ry burden’s getting lighter;
    Ev’ry cloud is silver lined.
    There the sun is always shining,
    There no tear will dim the eyes,
    At the ending of the rainbow,
    Where the mountains touch the sky.
    I don’t know about tomorrow,
    It may bring me poverty;
    But the One Who feeds the sparrow,
    Is the One Who stands by me.
    And the path that be my portion,
    May be through the flame or flood,
    But His presence goes before me,
    And I’m covered with His blood.Refrain
    Many things about tomorrow,
    I don’t seem to understand;
    But I know Who holds tomorrow,
    And I know Who holds my hand.
